Hong Fa vessel moves cement plant expansion project from Shanghai and Tianjin, China to Pecem, Brazil
For the expansion of a cement production facility in the state of Ceará the MV Chang Jiang pick up over 330 modules in two loading ports in China for discharge in Pecem port where a factory is to be installed on a site near the port area due to start in October this year and take 18 months to complete. Hans Vos of SeaWorks do Brasil, responsible for the booking, mentioned once completed, the cement factory will produce 900,000 metric ton cement per annum and should bring the state of Ceará to the top of cement producers in Northeast Brazil.
The project will be a source of major investment. Construction of the factory will provide between 400 and 800 direct jobs during the 18-month building period. Once the factory is up and running, employment for some 120 people will be available with production creating a further 600 indirect jobs.
Hong Fa loaded the large non-stackable consignment on one of the Blue Whale type vessels features 520 metric ton combined lifting capacity, over 8000 square meter under deck space and a cargo intake of 36.000 DWAT. Hong Fa currently operates 4 of these vessels with a fifth one coming into service September 2016.
