Two years Ocean transport service to the Wind Industry

On multiple voyages during the past two years, SeaWorks & Hong Fa shipped more than 108 wind turbines, approximately 260 tower sets and close to 400 blades for various off- and on- shore wind park project for Vestas, Siemens, Gamesa and Titan. The wind turbine equipment was shipped and loaded in China on the four large and flexible 36.000 Mtns deadweight Multipurpose project vessels; Chang Jiang, HuangHe, Taihu and Donghai and discharged in South Africa, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil.

A detailed planning, method statement, stowage plan and a preparation on board were essential to meet the high demands of today’s modern supply chain logistics departments of the turbine produces and constructors. “Our clients are pleased with the quality of our service. Safe and reliable ocean transportation of oversized cargo is a critical part of the wind energy industry. Hong Fa and SeaWorks showed they are equipped to meet to the industry expectations,” says Judith Wu, Commercial director at Hong Fa.

The windmill industry is a key sector for the group. The multipurpose Blue Whale type vessels, featuring 520 metric ton combined lifting capacity, over 8000 square meter under deck space and a cargo intake of 36.000 DWAT are perfectly fitted for this kind of transportation. Hong Fa currently operates 4 of these vessels with a fifth one coming into service March/April 2017
