Mv Donghai delivers locomotives and wagons for Belgrano railroad
On 13th December 2016 two heavy duty locomotives out of an order of 107 units arrived safely at the port of Buenos Aires in the presence of Transport Minister Guillermo Dietrich. The diesel powered units accompanied by over 100 newbuild wagons are destined for the San Martín, Urquiza as well as for the Belgrano rail network improvement project and supplied by China Machinery Engineering Corp.
This is not the first consignment for Hong Fa for the program to revive Argentina’s rail freight network. The initial batch consisted of hoppers for grain transport plus coal wagons to carry coal for state-owned oil and natural resources company YPF for its plant at Ensenada near Buenos Aires as well as for the countries huge agriculture industry. These industries form part of the prime economic drivers for Argentina which needs rail infrastructure development and improvement to support the ability to export resources and increase their competitiveness.
Just like the previous shipments for the project the Mv. Donghai discharged the railroad equipment with tandem and single lift operations. The modern multipurpose flexible 36.000 Mtns deadweight heavy lift vessel offer 520 Mtns combined lifting capacity and 8000 SQM under deck space are perfect for the task at hand. Hong Fa has 4 of these vessels in the fleet.
